Fashionable city flat inspired by a consistent style

The guidelines for this ambitious project were clearly defined. A city flat was to be completely refurbished, with a sophisticated, no frills look while exuding vastness and integrating state-of-the-art technical equipment. The first step was to analyse the surroundings in order to tailor the new furnishings to the existing premises. A straight-lined, angular style of furniture was used to reflect the no frills layout. Smoothly plastered walls and large windows with relatively low sills provided the room its vastness. Fine details such as the anthracite coloured silk-matt window sills underscore the room’s commitment to clarity.

Another important aspect to consider was that the city flat needed to be stylishly suited to entertaining guests. This aspect was satisfied with the seating arrangement in front of the fireplace and the large dining table. Considerable attention was given to the kitchen. There, a mix of painted surfaces, stainless steel and granite flatter the free-standing island and wine cabinet. The hallway seems spacious and welcoming thanks to its bright tiling which continues in the bathroom and WC. Three hanging closets for storing clothes and shoes add structure to the lengthy hall wall. Their high-gloss surface in graded natural colours provides a pleasing contrast to the matt tiles. The wardrobe cabinets’ square shape is also carried over to other furniture items such as the leather upholstered stool. The dark parquet seen in the living room was also integrated in the bathroom’s wooden furnishings, bringing continuity to the entire flat.

Ceiling-to-floor glass doors from Rimadesio were installed in the hallway/kitchen area as well as in the dressing room in the bedroom with mirrored grey glass. The dressing room is free-standing since the surrounding walls could not be used for reasons relating to soundproofing. It consists of a self-supporting system made of aluminium together with glass/wood flooring and drawers.

Technology is also implemented to perfection throughout the flat. Every high-end device in the apartment is networked with all of the others. In the living room, the TV is seamlessly integrated into the wall and cabinet in a conscious and intelligent show of restraint.
