The building by the Swiss architect Max Dudler represents an interesting contrast to the 965 year old Überwasser-Kirche church. The three parts of the library structure are covered with natural stone and offer room for a total of one million books. This architectural medley blends perfectly into the city environment and its uniform pattern of narrow windows offers a pleasant contrast to the surrounding winding old town alleyways.
We were allowed to take part in this spectacular project and delivered the bulk of the furniture for the reading and conference rooms, as well as the lounge and made this church library into a perfect place for minds to meet. Together with the project director, we selected products from Rosenthal, Thonet and Wittmann. It was very important for us to find classic pieces which would underscore the architecture and reflect the quality of the building.
