Every year, the Milan Furniture Fair is one of the highlights of our industry. This year, we drove to Milan along with our entire “home solutions” team (Flying wasn’t possible due to volcanic ash). Our first stop was in Weil am Rhein where we visited the new, recently opened Vitra-Haus. This is where Vitra presents its Home Collection (launched in 2004) with furniture arrangements inspired by various styles. The impressive architecture by Herzog & de Meuron unites “homelike” proportions with being constantly confronted with new interior spaces thanks to the 14 stacked and interconnected structural elements the house is built of.

From there, it was on to Milan. We found an abundance of inspiring new products and, most importantly, a wide range of extraordinarily designed trade fair booths and presentations even though there was no recognizable overall trend, as has been the case for the past few years.

The bathroom and kitchen section has been shifting into the spotlight of the fair for a few years now. It was presented in its own halls this year. The products were displayed in a very inviting and attractive manner, powerfully supporting the holistic approach of “one theme throughout the entire house”, an approach our company is also committed to.
